Paul Medew is the kind of lifer musician indie rock hums on; the guy in the back pocket, the guy who’s been there since the school band charmed their way out of detention. Best known as the bass player in Custard he’s long been a constant rather than a headline. With 'Echuca', released March 2026, he steps forward with a full suite of killer tunes.Echuca is Paul's first solo long player. The album emerged over several years, patiently collaborating with fellow journeyman Cam Jones—reconnecting musically for the first time since The Purple Hearts days. It's been a remote endeavour: raw stems shared via GDrive and mixes gradually shaped into songs that rock, roll, swing, lurch and tumble."It's been an absolute joy to work with Paul on bringing his songs to life.
